Kanawha Glass Company
Animal figures to appeal to all sorts of collectors were popular at Kanawha Glass Co. Glass lends itself to lots of whimsical shapes. These solid animals figures are very heavy and are fun to hold. They are also very smooth and the combination of heavy, cold, and smooth makes them fun to hold.
At Kanawha Glass company animal figures were created both by free-form hand-blowing items and by molding them.
Until Ebay came along I didn't have any idea of how many people like to collect a particular kind of animal in as many shapes, formats and sizes as they can. The Kanawha Glass sales team was obviously aware of this, and produced a range of products that would appeal to as many glass animal collectors as possible.
I included glass mushrooms with the animal figures. I suppose a mushroom isn't really an animal, although some botany textbooks will say they aren't plants either. Be that as it may, the solid glass mushrooms as works of glass art, are obviously similiar to the glass animals.
